VAS (Vultron Application Support) Database Editor
The VAS On-Board
Database Editor is a complex software tool to prepare and edit
background database for intelligent On-Board PI and AVMS systems. The created
data are transferred to the vehicles via different storage media (e.g. flash
cards, pen
drives) or wireless radio transmission network (WLAN). Once data have been
transferred to the vehicle, they are interpreted by the system controller
driving the
on-board devices.
The main purpose of
the VAS On-Board Database Editor is to support an easy
creation and edition of the sign images, the sound records, and the GPS
positions
belonging to the different stops of the different routes served by the vehicles.
The
VAS Editor achieves this goal by providing a user-friendly, graphical interface
to the
operators, who can create on-board databases from the grounds, or can customize
and update business data imported from existing systems. The Editor also
includes a
national language support to make its usage easier in the different countries.
At the
moment the Editor is available in English, in Hungarian and in Dutch languages.
The
VAS system also includes comprehensible auxiliary tools to create icons and font
sets.
Although the VAS
On-Board Database Editor was originally meant to operate in a
single-user desktop environment, there is a possibility of installing the
software on
multiple sites. In the multi-site version, the database of the whole fleet is
edited in a
central location and this master version is downloadable to various sites, where
local
modifications are allowed before transferring the data to the vehicles.
